Jim Noir - Eanie Meany

Artist: Jim Noir

Rating: 2/5

There are some songs which only have potential. They're songs you'd love to like. In fact, you can go mad forcing yourself to like a song, when in the end it's just too [insert preferred negative adjective here] to like. Unfortunately 'Eanie Meany' is one of those oh-so-disappointing songs.

Sure, it's catchy, it's cute. But is it too cute? Yes. In fact it's almost too sickeningly twee to listen to on a repeated basis. Yes, it may seem clever, witty even, but unfortunately the lyrics - "eanie meany run away", "steal my football run away" are repeated far too many times to be considered sane. In fact, it seems like Noir was having writer's block after the first three lines of the track, so just thought he'd repeat it over the whole lot.

Unfortunately it just doesn't measure up, and while it's catchy for the first few listens, in the end it's just plain tired, and too cute.

'Eanie Meany' is released as a single through Atlantic on 13th July 2006.
