The Metros - Last Of The Lookers

Artist: The Metros

Rating: 0.5/5

Where did this come from? Who is responsible for allowing this to exist? Does it signal the collapse of civilization? Or do people need to buy it first?

Maybe it's just an elaborate stunt to launch a new series of Beadle's About? Yes, that's it! Keep thinking about Jeremy Beadle's reanimated corpse. That'll help make these Metros-induced nightmares go away.

The song is bad enough to leave you recoiled in horror, its inane ska/rockabilly pastiche falling somewhere between the authenticity of McFly's early singles and the passion of Preston from Big Brother - but there's a video too.

Oh humanity, the video.

The lead singer staggers about in it like a gormless psychotic, enraptured to his own fantastical universe where anything he does is hilarious. "Look", his maniacal delusions inform him, "I'm yanking my braces and winking and instigating congas and everyone is larfing!" No you insufferable cretin, we are not laughing, we are crying bitterly in a violent maelstrom of seemingly endless torment and misery. And it isn't funny!

This is possibly one of the worst songs ever committed to record, it is a violation of nature's gift of music and even if it was somehow mutated to resemble a small innocent child offering you a Malteaser, you would have no qualms whatsoever bludgeoning it to death with a rusty shovel and a smile on your face. Fuck off The Metros, fuck off and never come back.

'Last Of The Lookers' is released as a single through 1965 Records on 2nd June 2008.
