The Brightlights - 3
Artist:
The Brightlights
Rating:
The Brightlights have it sorted. This - essential nowadays - unique logotype they've got going on is truly great. Drifting in with an authoritative lowercase 'the', subtle enough to capture the imagination of anyone still unaware it's not still 2002 without horrifying anyone else, it then daringly eclipses this with a totemic capital 'B', which somehow manages to both thwart the emasculating glorious, swirling serif of the 'rightlights' it surveys and yet still help spell out the band's name - fully - so people can read it and not confuse them with The Kooks.
So, if your band plays generic indie mush that would befit a Persil advert featuring a young son quite well, and your singer has a sustained retch for a voice that obnoxiously chokes up "sal'ight" constantly, you NEED this font. This font will literally save your band and get you two stars single-handedly. Font-tastic! Font-tabulous! Font-cellent! You get the picture.
'3' is released as a single through Distiller Records on 16th June 2008.

This band are diabolical. To be honest, i'm still in shock that the tuneless, Kooks rip offs have even got signed!
Possibly the worse thing to be shat out of Grimsby since Matt Stiff (from classical gimps, G4).

How is talking about the Font a band uses as a logo a single review? What a poor attempt at being a music journalist. Seriously mate get a grip your not NME your just a tool.
Id not heard of the band until i came across this review. I took the time to check there myspace out and give them a listen. How wrong can you be? you say they sound like The kooks? Are you tone deff!? The kooks write pop songs for radio. These guys play raw indie.
Id give up your job to sell newspapers because there is no way you are going to be writing for any.

''Font-tastic! Font-tabulous! Font-cellent! You get the picture''
I get the picture. It reads your a narrow-minded journo with no taste.
This band have so much potential and they know it. Im sure a review from someone that knows nothing about music is really going to lower there self confidence. Nice work
