6 Day Riot - 6 Day Riot Have A Plan
Opening track ‘Run For Your Life’ is an ode to a deceased female figure, stating ‘her face is in every paper and we may never forget her’, which is eerily contemporary after the recent death of Farah Fawcett. ‘Breakdown’ does exactly what it says on the tin, dealing with the mental repercussions of a relationship that seems to be going nowhere, while ‘Long Slow March’ describes the heartbreak that comes with distrusting those you love. Hard-hitting with a bouncy exterior is the name of lead singer Tamara Schlesinger’s game, rather like a Roses’ truffle chunk in reverse, but without the annoying gold foil that gets stuck in your fingernails.
Combining whimsical vocals, a violin and the odd ukulele doesn’t sound like the soundtrack to a friday night. Which it isn’t. It’s the soundtrack to a break up, a breakdown or just a long, hard think about the future.
