Ben Kweller - On My Way

Ben Kweller - On My Way
Album Reviews

Ben Kweller: that indie little brother you never had. Forget the fact he's 23 and married - he's always going to be that kid.

Ben Kweller: that indie little brother you never had. Forget the fact he's 23 and married - he's always going to be that kid.

'On My Way' at least attempts a dash towards adulthood. There's less of the over exerted energy and pointless outbursts that ran throughout 2002's 'Sha Sha'. Instead you get more considered 60s tinged folk-led alternative. The problem is, it's a bit too sedated - it's gone slightly too far in the other direction.

The goofy inanity is missed, and it's only in tracks like 'Hospital Bed' where the charisma starts to make a fleeting appearance again. The rest of the time you're confronted with a man trying to prove he's no longer a boy. At worst it's transitional though - Ben Kweller still has what it takes.
Rating: 6/10
