If you enjoy your music soundtracking Hollyoaks, this might be the perfect album for you.

Irony is a funny thing. The Noisettes' sophomore album is titled 'Wild Young Hearts', but never have a band seemed so tame, after being battered and bruised because of a lack of success from their excellent debut album 'What's The Time Mr. Wolf?'.

The Noisettes have suddenly had great exposure thanks to lead single 'Don't Upset The Rhythm' advertising a car and reaching the Top 5 because of it. There have been many great songs that have soundtracked adverts, obviously, but this is pretty much a summary of this album. It shows no real emotion, but is not fast enough to make a fun listen.

Songs like '24 Hours' and 'Every Now And Then' plod by without a hook or a chorus that sticks more than 5 minutes after listening, and it's easy enough to forget that the album is on at all. It's not a particularly embarassing record at all, and indeed would probably go down well as background music at a party, but it's definitely not an exciting listen.

This is made only worse if you're a fan of them from the days of their debut album, full of great old-school rock-n-roll songs that were everything this album isn't, catchy, fun and an exciting listen. But by all means, if you enjoy your music soundtracking Hollyoaks and doubling-up as a great coaster for your Earl Grey tea, this might be the perfect album for you. Rating: 4/10
