I’m Suffering From A Brits Hangover. And So Are They.
Bring back the old Brits, all is forgiven.

It's not just me - The Brits were dull. They were. I know for a fact because I asked a lot of people. I might have gone in with too high hopes, and I accept that, but where was the drama? Where was Jarvis Cocker mooning Michael Jackson? Where was Robbie challenging Liam to a fight? In fact, where were the Gallaghers in general?
The Mumford & Sons performance was probably one of the worst ever live Brit Awards appearances. And that's saying something. Anyone remember Geri's 'Bag It Up'? At least Miss Halliwell gave her staging some thought.
James Corden was severely lacking in, well, most things. He wasn't funny, he wasn't charismatic, and he certainly wasn't entertaining. At least when Russell Brand did it, he brought a bit of clought with him, swears and all.
It's not all bad, admittedly. Adele's 'Someone Like You' actually moved me a little bit. And not to the fridge. Cee-Lo and Paloma brought their unique brand of 'charm' to the stage, and I particularly enjoyed Rihanna's medley.
But other than that, it was a bit of a let down.
Viewing figures were at their lowest since 2006, with more of the viewing public choosing to tune into Channel 4's Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, (with the documentary claiming a massive 24.9% average audience share compared to a lowsey 18.9% for The Brits).
This year was all about getting back to the music. To the things that matter. But perhaps what the organisers failed to realise is that The Brits give their artists personality. Would Oasis have ever been so successful if we didn't all just want to see what trouble they were going to cause next year? Would anyone still care about Robbie Williams if it weren't for the fact that he might potentially go off the rails again?
They're forgetting something vital here. The entire point of The Brits is to celebrate British music. And what do we have as Britons if not a sense of humour? And let's be honest, as far as some winners are concerned, if we didn't laugh, we would cry. The organisers might seek to take some lessons from Ch4's popular show – and what I mean by that, I'll leave to your imagination.
Bring back the old Brits, all is forgiven.
