Into The Blogosphere (21st November 2011) In what may well be the final assortment of fresh-faced tracks before the ‘Into the Blogosphere’ year closes with a “best of” show and a “tips for 2012” feature, I’ve done my very utmost to bring you a flawless selection from both established artists announcing their returns and new bright hopes with promising first efforts. In this show blog, I’ll be focusing in on the latter, but do feel free to get ridiculously excited about new stuff from Lindstrom and White Denim, if you’re so inclined. Also, be sure to indulge yourself in the debut album from Korallreven. We’ve given it some extensive coverage on this week’s show, with ten minutes set aside for immersing yourself in ‘As Young As Yesterday’ and ‘Sa Sa Samoa’, the album’s opening pair of songs.

As for the new folk, here’s the best of a quite magnificent bunch. All the superb blogs who helped me construct this show have been credited after each song description. Stating the obvious, ‘Into the Blogosphere’ would be nothing without them:

Inkships - Cassettes
You’ll be seeing a First On article on this guy in due time. The only information we were able to gather together for the piece however was the following: 1) He’s one guy with a wealth of equipment 2) His name’s Matt 3) He’s listened to Discovery and Vampire Weekend and Afropop and he’s made something completely original out of it. Sitting somewhere between sappy ballads and an avant garde piece of electronica, ‘Cassettes’ is the analog-pop masterpiece you’ve always dreamt of, and it’s come out of nowhere. Dreampeter - Mason Jar
It was a last-ditch inclusion, placed firmly at the end of the show. This wasn’t some act of filling the minutes, though. I’d been thinking about playing it for a few days before I went on air but had doubts over its scrappy production and tuneless-ness. Turns out that’s all part of the charm with this Ann Arbor artist’s heart-on-sleeve, Deerhunter-influenced nostalgic pop. It might take a couple of listens to be convinced of as much but you’ll be won over eventually. (Hat tip, yvynyl)

Zoos of Berlin - Haven’t Eyes
And lastly, it’s due time we honed in on this gloriously chirpy offering of summertime pop, ill equipped for the current London fog that defined my surroundings when I was recording this week’s show. Sharp, compact guitar riffs compete with theatrical, Future Islands-like vocals, forming into four minutes worth of excitable freakshow pop; charmingly quirky and completely unforgettable.
