Peter, Bjorn & John: Stock N’ Roll Forget ABBA. Forget IKEA. Forget Stieg Larsson (momentarily). Peter from Peter, Bjorn and John tells DIY about the best way to spend a day in the Scandinavian capital of cool, Stockholm.

Walking Around
You should absolutely take a walk around Djurgården, the half-island which might be an upper-class hangout but is still the most beautiful place ever to grace a semi-big city. That will start your day perfectly with exercise and seeing some lovely houses and nature. I actually got married there!

They also have some nice museums, so you could check out Liljevalchs as their spring exhibition is usually fun or you could see the historic ship museum, The Vasa Museum instead.

At Djurgården, you can lunch at the lovely garden, Rosendal or at the Helinvoltair café.

Record Stores
There's an area called SOFO, which means South of Folkungatan. It sounds really phony but it's full of small shops if you prefer those to the big warehouses, I know I do. For instance, Pet Sounds is a classic record store on Skånegatan. It's pretty expensive but it has a good selection.

There's another record store nearby called An Ideal For Living, which has some great second-hand vinyl and vintage clothes! Also on the same street is Grandpa, which is worth a visit for clothes and random things.

I prefer vintage clothes for moral reasons and some times aesthetic reasons too.

Drinks
At nearby Nytorget, I really like Gildas café for an afternoon coffee. You can bring your dog too!

And when Snottys (at Skånegatan 90) open at 4, that's the spot for your first beer. It's also the place if you wanna spot local indie rockers hanging out. It's a really nice relaxed bar with good music and decent food at a decent price. John DJs there sometimes and you're allowed to bring your dog.

If Snottys is too crowded head over to Harvest Home (at Bondegatan 50). It has a mixed clientele with more middle-aged actors than 30-something-rockers but it's a really nice place with good beers and Neil Young on the PA. And (you guessed it) you can bring you dog (that's important to me!)

Dinner
For dinner, I would suggest going to a completely different part of town for the best sushi Stockholm has to offer at Råkultur. It's not pricey and it's perfect for a date. Or try the classic KB with super good service and classy classic food, no annoying music and a calm atmosphere. In that area there are some really nice cinemas too like Zita and Sture.

Nightlife
Follow that street further down and you end up at Stureplan. It's the centre of partying in Stockholm with hangouts like Spy Bar, Kåken and expensive shopping. For some rock'n'roll and clubbing, I would suggest good old Debaser - the smaller, original one at Karl Johans Torg. It's especially good on a weekday when it's not too crowded and people are a little older.
Your other option is the Strand in Hornstull - another hipster area, where PBJ have our rehearsal space. Loads of great bands play there all the time (we will soon) and there are different styles of rooms e.g. there's a relaxed restaurant area (where I sometimes DJ) and a club area. That should get you started!

No. 1 Thing To Do In Stockholm
If it's the summertime and you have an extra day, take a boat trip to the archipelago outside Stockholm and maybe camp on an island. So near and yet so far away; it's the best place on earth!
