Dolly Parton in animal print and leggings on a crisp white bed, Keira Knightley looking somewhat hollow-eyed and straight at the camera, and Tatiana and Belene – a girl with a llama on a lead. This exhibition of sixty works by a host of the world’s most contemporary portrait photographers is a must-see.

Over 6000 submissions were received from budding amateurs to experienced professionals, and the resulting exhibition is a fabulous mix of commissioned portraits of recognizable faces to more spontaneous offerings capturing intimate moments. Many of the photos picked are on show for the first time, and include the five prize-winners and the winner of the Elle commission.

The Photographic Portrait Prize is on display at The National Portrait Gallery until the 12th February.
