Gadget Wishlist: Kindle Cases When it comes to gadgetry, girls often get overlooked, but thanks to some canny crafters, it’s now possible to turn the ‘not particularly amazing to look at’ Kindle, into something rather lust-worthy indeed.

We scoured the seemingly never-ending pages of crafters’ paradise website, Etsy, to bring you the best of the handmade Kindle cases…

1. Red Roses Kindle CoverThe Red Roses Kindle Cover by KatiesCurios is lined with fleece, has a press-close tab at the top to ensure your Kindle stays snug inside, and best of all comes swathed in a gothic red and black rose fabric. It’s a steal at £13 and would make a lovely little Valentines Day gift for an eBook-loving lady.

2. Apples Oil Cloth Kindle CaseAh, oilcloth, was there ever a more versatile fabric? It’s a bit like PVC but is just so much classier – and in that respect - makes the perfect covering for a well-to-do Kindle. We like this Apples Oil Cloth Kindle Case for $14 from itwasmeanttobee. A touch retro, a whole lot sophisticated.

3. Padded Kindle 4 Cover CaseThere’s something of the Japanese kawaii about this Padded Kindle 4 Cover Case by Saysie, and that’s a very good thing indeed. Lined with red polka dot cotton, a soft fleece padding, and finished with a Velcro-closing flap, this Kindle cover is both cute and practical. $22.50.

4. Harris Tweed Kindle eBook SleeveHarris Tweed is woven by islanders in the Outer Hebrides, is naturally stain and damp resistant, and if The Queen has a Kindle, we reckon she dresses it in this. This Harris Tweed Kindle eBook Sleeve is made by Sally Lucas in Edinburgh and costs $32. Oozes class.

5. Retro Style Pink Bird Print Kindle CaseIndulge your girly side with this Retro Style Pink Bird Print Kindle Case for $21 from CrabtreeLaneShop. It’s been designed to fit the Amazon Kindle 3/3G but specify when you place your order and you can have your case made to fit whatever Kindle model you’ve got. That’s customer service for ya!

All Kindle cases featured are available to buy from Etsy. It’s an American website so even though the above sellers are based in the UK, that’s why most of their prices are shown in dollars.
