Getty Images Launch Mishmash Competition Getty Images – the folk behind so many of those lovely images you see in newspapers and magazines – have launched an exciting new competition to inspire and foster budding video creatives of the future.

Mishmash, the music video remix competition for 2012, offers people from all over the world the chance to create and produce their own short videos using a huge selection of Getty images’ content.

Fancy your chances? If so, you’ll be able to work your magic with access to over 825,000 commercial quality, creative and editorial video clips, as well as an extensive music catalogue, which contains a growing collection of more than 140,000 pre-cleared original music tracks.

Participants can enter one of three categories: short story, music video or video art with a video lasting between one and three minutes. Entries will be uploaded onto the Mishmash website for everyone to watch and rate – ahead of the Mishmash jury’s deliberations.

Andrew Saunders, Senior Vice President of Creative Content at Getty Images said: “We are thrilled to announce that Mishmash is back for its third year and are looking forward to seeing how creatives from all over the world use Getty Images’ content to produce fresh and innovative work.”

The competition will be judged across three regions: EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa); the Americas; and Asia-Pacific. There will be a global grand prix prize of $5000 for the best overall submission across all three regions, along with a first prize package of $2000 for the best entry from each region, and UK entrants also get the added bonus of being in with a chance of scooping a $1000 prize if their entry is chosen as the best from the UK. What’s more, the public will also be able to have their say with a cash prize being awarded to the entrant who picks up the most public votes through the Mishmash website.

The competition is open until 29th February 2012 for submissions, and the winners will be announced on the 19th March. For more information, check the Mishmash website.
