Science has never been sexy. Until, perhaps, now…
Preview: Brighton Science Festival1st – 29th February 2012, various venues around Brighton
Maybe it’s the white lab coats, the stench from burning chemicals, or the fact all science teachers we’ve encountered have seemingly undergone a sense of humour bypass, whatever it is, one thing’s for sure, science has never been sexy. Until, perhaps, now…
The Brighton Science Festival sees the likes of Robin Ince, Marcus Brigstocke, and Helen Keen debating all manner of sciencey things from religion to illusion. Sweet-toothed science fans should enjoy the chance to learn more about the science side of sweets in the Chewy Gummy Physics Funfair, while crafters can try their hand at making pencil cases from the scourge of modern day society, the plastic bag.
It might not be sexy like Peter Stringfellow does sexy (ahem), but, had events like this been around when we were doing our science GCSE, we might have actually paid some attention. (Instead of listening to Pulp at the back of the class - earphone wire rigged down sleeve; walkman in pocket FYI).
