Ditch the horseradish; move over mayo; it’s time to make room for mustard. With everything. Now Autumn’s here, fashion is all about those rich burnt colour palettes of ochre, burgundy and chocolate – brown just doesn’t sound so nice. Here are our picks of the best mustard money can buy… Look away now if you’re a fan of Colman’s.

Mustardify (yep, it is a word now) your work wardrobe in style with a simple pencil skirt a la this little number. We’re not sure about teaming it with shoe boots so try this season’s hiking boot trend instead. Muchos grunge. Zip skirt £22.99 from Zara.

To sneak a bit of mustard into your wardrobe without OD’ing on the stuff – opt for accessories or shoes. We like this Mustard Vintage Floral Bangle from Lily and Joan and at £12.99 it’s easy on the pocket money. On the other hand, if you’re due a splurge you could do a lot worse than treating yourself to a pair of these delicious Swedish Hasbeens Sky High Tassel Loafer Court Shoes from John Lewis. Yowzer though you’d better be feeling flush – they’re £269.

For a bold 60s vibe, put this Heraldic Print Shift Dress in mustard, stone and cocoa at the top of your must-have list. Keep the rest of your outfit simple – thick black opaque tights and go-go boots are what’s called for. £18 from Matalan.

We know skinny jeans have been around for ages and the fashion pack keep trying to get us to switch to boot cut and 70s flares, but let’s be honest, we’re just not buying it. So mix things up with the skinny style and plump for some colour. We’re all for these Miranda Jeans in mustard from Boohoo. Why? Because they’re £20. We smell a mustardy bargain!

Last but not least we’ve got the lovely folks at ASOS to thank for this mustard Shift Dress with Neck Trim for £32. And we’re particularly liking the shirt under dress look – totally preppy and just a little bit Love Story. And that’s never a bad thing.
