This season, there’s no doubt in our minds: it’s all about the mods.

It’s an age-old debate – the mods v. the rockers. And this season, there’s no doubt in our minds: it’s all about the mods. Slam on some Who and get dressed up for a night at a milk bar.

No mod outfit is complete without the iconic Corduroy Breton Cap like this one from Headstart Hats for £9.99. Its stiff peak, worn at a jaunty angle or not, will give a nod to your musical allegiances without making a song and dance about it. Also available in blue, dark brown and black.

It’s no secret who’s behind the totally mod-esque store, Pretty Green, and aside from the prices, which can be a little bit ‘eeek’, the rest is spot on. These Black Striped Tailored Slim Trousers feature sleek lines and a clean cut finish. We like the chunky pinstripe with subtle maroon detailing, too. They’ll cost you £130 of your wage packet. Fine if you’re Liam Gallagher, not so much if you’re a bellboy a la Sting in Quadrophenia.

The parka. It’s probably the most iconic piece of the mod wardrobe, but sometimes a new take on things can be good. Cue this Two Colour Jacket in khaki green and navy. Big buttons and drawstrings at the neck and hem add interest, while patch pockets and a hood make it functional. £35 from Matalan.

Step away from the desert boot, leave the brogues to the heritage trend, and give your old school favourites a try instead. Ok, so they may only have come about in 1975, but these Men’s Kickers Kick Hi Blue Leather Boots definitely have a bit of the mod feel about them. They’ll see you all through winter and then some. £65 from Kickers.

Half ‘60s mod, half ‘80s bother boy, this Jenkins Reversible Jacket will have you looking like you’ve just stepped off the set of This is England ‘86. That’s a good thing in our books. It’s £90 from Merc but you get the benefit of two jackets in one. Cutting edge.
