Weekly Fashion Fix: Pyjama Trousers
Comfy, stylish, and (dare we say it) a welcome change from denim.
No. We are not advocating the wearing of fluffy fleece pyjama bottoms on a trip to the supermarket at 8am on a Saturday morning. (We know you’ve done it). We are, however, advocating, the wearing of the new pyjama trousers which are comfy, stylish, and (dare we say it) a welcome change from denim. Pyjama trousers, peg leg trousers, relaxed-fit trousers, carrot-leg trousers – whatever you want to call them they’re all on our radar this spring. Why? Because we’ve been compensating for the cold weather by eating too much and these loose-fitting trousers are a great way to hide any excess, erm, bulge.
New Look win this week with their Floral Slim Leg Trousers at the brilliant price of £16.99. They’ve got pockets (always handy), an all-over ditsy floral print (cute), and a button and zip fly fastening (so they’re in no way to be mistaken for actual pyjama bottoms).
Next up, it’s Dorothy Perkins with a slightly smarter version – if New Look’s is a weekend trouser, this pair is a weekday offering. The print is a little more grown-up, the cut has a less slouchy feel, and the price is a touch more serious: £29.50. Perfect for injecting a touch of fun into a workaday wardrobe.
At the other end of the spectrum is this pair of Blue Patterned Peg Leg Trousers for £25 from River Island. We like the cord string tie at the waist, the unashamedly relaxed elasticated cuff at the ankle, and the print which makes us swear we had a pair of these in 1994.
Lastly, if you’re after a splash of holiday fever long before your actual summer hols, we point you in the direction of these Co-ord Tropical Slim Trousers from Topshop. Fab bold print, essential tapered leg, and even though, at £45, they’re the priciest pair of the lot, they are 98% cotton. And we do love our natural fibres.
