Weekly Fashion Fix: The Lace Revival
Lace. It did for the Victorians what neon did for new rave.

Lace. It did for the Victorians what neon did for new rave. And whether you’re up for a bit of a new romantics revival or not, lace is a major player in next season’s line-up. It doesn’t need to be Belgian, we’re not fussed if it’s vintage, we’re just up for a spot of glam.

This dainty jumper with lace collar is 100% cotton – a bonus because acrylic gives us static shocks - and £35 from ASOS. The lace collar is finished with a button keyhole fastening at the back and it comes in emerald green or black. Great for a prim secretary style look.
For a subtle nod to the lace trend, opt for these lace nail transfers for £2.50 from Monsoon. Kind of like fishnets for your fingers.
Also from Monsoon, but rather more on the ‘sugar and spice and all things nice’ side of things, is this lace butterfly necklace for £7. Very afternoon tea with grandma.
For a 70s spin on things, we like this lace fringed top from Matalan – a store that keeps coming up trumps in the fashion stakes at the mo. It’s got a protect-your-modesty vest attached but we like the idea of snipping that out and layering it with a long-sleeved teal-coloured tee for Autumn. £14 and it’s yours.
Head to House of Fraser for a more Victorian take on the proceedings. At £11, this Vero Moda Lace Collar is a great investment piece. Add it to pretty much any outfit you choose and this flouncy beauty will soon earn its keep.
Fearne Cotton may have worn lace fingerless gloves in the past – but we will not (repeat, NOT) let that kill our passion for lace. Forget her, and focus instead on these lovely lace gloves from H&M. Imagine clasping a pint on a Friday night down the local with these on. Ah, the admiring glances, the frowns suggesting ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ and all the time you can sup smug in the knowledge you paid only £3.99. Bru ha ha haaa.
