2010 Tips From Copy Haho & Le Corps Mince De Francoise

There's a lot to look forward to this year, says Richard from Copy Haho.

Posted 6th January 2010, 10:51pm in Features, Copy Haho

We're not really huge fans of lists (unless they're of the Christmas or shopping variety) as when used to mark the start or end of something (the year, say, or the decade...) they all seem to be the bloody same. We don't really want to tip Ellie Goulding, or The Drums - you know they're going to do well, everyone else has already told you. So, we've got some other people to tell us who they think should be big this year, and who will be big this year. Different people it seems have interpreted this different ways, and it's all interesting stuff. This week (and maybe some of next) we're going to publish them, in a feature a day (some are quite short, you see).

WHO WILL BE BIG WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT IN 2010:

Some sub-standard rapper or 'indie' band will release a 1,000,000 selling album and people will complain about them on messageboards despite the fact that they can just ignore it and listen to and support some good music instead!

There'll also be a greater amount of lesser selling acts that'll also be terrible. Upon seeing their face(s) plastered everywhere, many will presume they're 'big' or 'famous' already, and not care two hoots about stealing their music from the internet, in an ill-advised teenage attempt to stick it to 'the man'.

Said records will then not recoup and people will be sad.

WHO SHOULD BE BIG IN 2010:

The new Los Campesinos! album, 'Romance is Boring', will bring them many new fans/attention - and rightfully so. It's an absolutely brilliant record.

I've not actually heard the new Errors album yet, but I can say the same thing of them with confidence.

Hopefully there'll be a new Times New Viking album, and maybe a new Wilco album that doesn't disappoint to tears this time?

I'd also recommend Sparky Deathcap a whole lot, I'd love to hear more songs by him.

Wonderswan will put out another great release I'd imagine, and hopefully I'll get to see Leed's Twisted at some point, too!

Hot Club de Paris are putting out a new EP/mini-album early next year - their new songs are incredible.

There's a new Field Music (DOUBLE!!!) album out in early 2010 - that will surely be a favourite.

New Remember Remember and Sic Alps too, please?

Le Corps Mince de Francoise

*Bands that WILL be big in 2010*
The Drums - It's the new indie sensation, I can smell it. I just hope they don't turn out boring as many other bands.
Sliimy - Has allready gotten quite big, especially in France. He supported Britney Spears on her Paris gig and has become one of Perez Hilton's favourites. And he looks just like Prince!
The xx - A band with a huge hype. Is just growing bigger and bigger. I think this is a band that everyone can like. For better and worse.
Julian Casablancas - Well, obviously...

*Bands that SHOULD be big in 2010*
Miike Snow - Anyone who's been involved in writing Toxic for Britney Spears has to have some more good pop-songs up their sleeve.
Joensuu 1865 - Not just a bad Nirvana-copy as many others, this band is really good, especially live. Got tipped in NME song of the week.
Crystal Fighters - These guys from London are working on some really fresh and exiting stuff at the moment. Unique sound.
Renaissance Man - RM's succes was instant from the very beginning. Their minimal sound is gonna be recognized.
MVSEVM - You haven't heard of them. Yet.
