David Rogers-Berry of O'Death gives us an A to Z run down of the band, complete with an added element of free-association.
A is for...Aleister Crowley - After watching film of his life, I kind of decided this guy's mythos is over rated.
B is for...'Back in the Salad Again' by King Missile - Apparently the name of this song is actually 'Anywhere', because John S. Hall is talking about how he could be anywhere, including back in the salad again which is, of course, quite punny. I haven't listened to King Missle in a long time, but I was really into it when I was a kid - and John Hall is still around the East Village hitting on girls I used to date and what not.
C is for...Cat On A Hot Tin Roof - Can't front on Tennessee Williams
D is for...'Dogs on The Dance Floor' - This is a song from a multi-media rock opera by the local New York band Bambi. I'm performing it with them...tonight!
E is for...Etymology - Words are a great tool, and it's really interesting to learn where some of them come from.
F is for...Faulkner, William - Jeez, I'm starting to come off like some kind of literary snob.
G is for...God Fearing Man - I come from a long line of these, but I'm proud to say I've broken the chain.
H is for...Humiliation - Is important if we are ever to realise our true potential.
I is for...Irreparable Damage - Can get in the way of our potential.
J is for...'Jack on Fire' by Gun Club - In all honesty, The Gun Club is not exactly a great band. But they have some great songs and this is one of them.
K is for...Karma - I don't really believe people get what's coming to them. However, the way we perceive the universe and ourselves within it filters all of our experiences.
L is for...Lust Caution - Personally, I like Ang Lee because he has such a broad range. Few film makers even attempt such eclectic achievements.
M is for...'Money Makes The World Go Round' - This is the first thing that came to mind. Cabaret was the only really impressive musical I've seen on Broadway so far, and I guess now I have to stand by that because I've stated it publicly.
N is for...Nag - No one likes one. Try not to be one. We all love some anyway.
O is for...Ol Dirty Bastard - I WILL NOT defend some of his lyrics. I used to listen to a lot of rap music, and these days I can't take a lot of the misogyny in Wu Tang songs, but sometimes I suspect O.D.B. might have been a real genius.
P is for...Publishing Industry - My girlfriend is a writer, and as she says, if I have to listen to one more conversation about the tumultuous state of the publishing industry, I might punch a geek in their Kindle.
Q is for...Qu'est-ce que c'est - Well, I like visiting French speaking countries, but I also like The Talking Heads, and 'Psycho Killer' introduced me to this common phrase.
R is for...Real Talk - I became familiar with this expression from a kind of funny song by a popular R&B artist, and recently I've noticed it popping up in a lot of graffiti around NYC.
S is for...Servile - I aim to please.
T is for...Tom Boy - I was always attracted to tom boys when I was younger - but now I'm dating a total femme and that's cool too.
U is for...Urethra - This is the free association segment.
V is for...Vulva - See above
W is for...Wicker Man (Original Soundtrack) - I was listening to this soundtrack when I began writing this feature.
X is for...Xenophile - I have really eclectic taste. Particularly when it comes to music, I'm always interested in stuff that's foreign to my own sensibilities.
Y is for...Yes Yes Yes - It feels so good.
Z is for...Zest For Life- I had the Iggy song in my head, but of course that's 'Lust For Life.' But how can you go wrong with some citrus peel shavings in your life??
