It's been a busy ol' few weeks for Veronica Falls, with their self-titled debut released last month and a tour that's just concluded. We catch up with the band to get to know them a little better, A To Z style.

A is for… Apple Records. If it was still a functioning label, I’d want to be on no other.

B is for… the Byrds. A great revolving selection of musicians all in the same band.

C is for… Cycling. Good way to get around.

D is for… Dolly Mixture. Classic girl group.

E is for… Elastica. Donna Metthews (Elastica guitarist) used to live with my parents. She's very cool.

F is for… Flying Nun. Influential Label from Christchurch, New Zealand.

G is for… Gorilla Mask. This is something we talk about but don’t know if anyone’s actually done.

H is for… Hand Shandy. This definitely gets done.

I is for… In and Out Burger. West coast religious burger chain favoured by us.

J is for… JFK. Interesting.

K is for… Kristina records/K records. Kristina records is a fantastic new record shop opened in Dalston. K Records is an old favourite.

L is for… the Left Banke. Baroque pop at its finest.

M is for… Madchester. I don't think I'm actually into any Madchester bands apart from The Stone Roses, I just find the name quite amusing.

N is for… Nirvana unplugged. The best way to listen to Nirvana.

O is for… Opal. David Roebuck from the Rain Parade’s band, stepping stone between RP and Mazzy Star.

P is for… Polaroid/Pizza. A good way to take photos/a favoured food of the band.

Q is for… Queen Bitch. One of Bowie’s best songs.

R is for… Roky Erickson/REM. Roky Erickson is an influence on the band, as are REM.

S is for… Sunset Boulevard. This film works for me on so many levels.

T is for… Tom Verlaine. Television front man.

U is for… USA. I love the USA. If I was to move anywhere in the world it would be there.

V is for… Velvet Underground. A band held close to the heart.

W is for… West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band/Walmart. The WCPAEB are a perfect blend of sunshine pop and experimentation. Walmart is a very useful place to stop off and buy crap in.

X is for… XTC. Classic band.

Y is for… Yo La Tengo. Hoboken group, very cool people.

Z is for… Zelda Fitzgerald. F Scott Fitzgerald is my favourite writer and his wife Zelda is a fascinating character.

Veronica Falls' self-titled debut album is out now via Bella Union.
