Albums Of 2007: #4 The Lodger - Grown-Ups

The Lodger's debut long player was always going to be one of our favourites this year.

The Lodger

It's our final underrated gem and is easily both the most underrated and most gem-like of all. The Lodger's debut long player was always going to be one of our favourites this year. From the jangly indie of 'Many Thanks For Your Honest Opinion' and 'Not So Fast' to the James Ford-produced disco of 'Getting Special', it's a record which is impossible not to fall in love with.

'Grown-Ups' is packed full of ready-made bedroom anthems (they're mostly not designed for the dancefloor, definitely aren't the choice of lager louts, and won't be playing arenas any time soon), bittersweet lyrics ('You Got Me Wrong') and the odd bit of wit sprinkled in for good measure ('Kicking Sand', opener 'Many Thanks...'.

It's not often we'd allow ourselves to say 'buy this album', but since you'll already have our top three, we're making an exception.
