Even before the release of 'Neon Bible', Arcade Fire were already one of the world's most critically acclaimed bands. They're an arm-wrestle with Radiohead away from being the millennium's best band. 'Neon Bible', the band's second album, is a real cracker, and marked the band's true breakthrough; it debuted at #1 in the Canadian album charts, and narrowly missed out in the US and UK, beaten only by Notorious B.I.G. and Kaiser Chiefs respectively.'Intervention' was the number picked by ourselves to feature in the tracks run down, but there's more than just the one great song on 'Neon Bible'. 'No Cars Go' proved itself an instant classic (the track initially having featured on the Canadian collective's debut EP), and 'Keep The Car Running' is as orchestrally incendiary as 'Wake Up' ever was. They were the band of this year's festivals. Long live Arcade Fire.
