Travelling to a festival is entirely different each way you can go about it. On a coach, there's a gang mentality, even if you don't know a single person there; you're all headed to the same destination for vaguely the same reasons, but you're all probably listening to something entirely different on your iPods, avoiding the group of pissed-up louts at the back chanting Oasis songs. On the train, it's much the same, but less drunken, and more 'squashed against the toilet door by the person in front's giant backpack'. In the car is another matter: here you can sing (or at least nod) along, and choose just what you want to listen to (clue: it won't be Jo Whiley's pre-festival 'predictions').
