Oh blimey, SXSW is now so close you can smell it (or is that just the geeks at the Interactive part? - Ed.), and we've got a whole load of stuff to come.

Before that, though, a bunch of bands we (or rather, those of us who are on the right continent to attend - UK Ed.) like who are playing, and why they're, like, good n'stuff.


Golden Triangle




Psychedelic post punk low-fi 6piece from Brooklyn signed to Hardly Art.

Das Racist




Art Rap duo out of Brooklyn made up of Queens-born Himanshu Kumar and San Francisco-born Victor Vazquez. They are hilarious, and we mean freaking hilarious.

The Young Republic




Five-piece hailing from Nashville that blend jazz, blues and folk into classic rock. They create absolutely gorgeous music mixed with the dulcet tones of vocalists Julian and Kristin, and if that weren't reason enough, they have a violin, that rocks out.

Experimental electro trio formerly of The Mae Shi.

Slow Club




Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor should need no introduction as Slow Club; their voices mixed with slightly odd lyrics make this duo a really fun listen, and Rebecca plays a chair as her percussion.  That’s just ace.

Still Flyin'




More of a music collective, headed by singer/songwriter Sean Rawls, than a strict band.

A Canadian indie rock quintet with awesome rhythms and an intense energy.

Stricken City




London based quartet who, as they say, "play pop songs lingering on lovers and tramps jumping between places and pictures...". Lovers and tramps jumping between places and pictures? How could you not want to listen to them.  Plus Raa has a gorgeous voice, and the music makes you float away. That helps too.

A super cross-the-pond collaboration between an American, two Brits and an Aussie.

Jaguar Love




The joining together of members from The Blood Brothers, Past Lives and Pretty Girls Made Graves forms this art punk, glam metal brilliance. Not only will the music make you wanna get up and dance, but the live show is incendiary, with lead vocalist Jordan Billie prancing all over the stage like the latest incarnation of Mick Jagger.  Yep, he’s that good.

Those Darlins




Girl fronted Country Pop Rock out of Tennessee. With songs like 'Red Light Love' that sound straight out of the 60s, these girls will make you want to dance like you’re at a sock hop.  With Chuck Berry.
