Tour Diary: Canterbury (Part 2)

1 2 3 4

When we heard the really rather great Canterbury were heading out on the road with The Blackout, DIY wanted in on the action. The band will be sending us snaps and reports from the road. This is part two, as penned by Luke Prebble (vocals/bass)...

So we are currently witnessing some pretty stunning views driving up the east coast of Scotland on the way to the Edinburgh Picture House. We are all stuffed full of Canterbury’s first choice of touring breakfast from Morrison’s café, and are ready for the third show of the tour.

Last night we played in Leeds at the University. We had a really good time and although the audience didn’t seem to have quite as much energy as the previous night, we felt like we’d tightened up and are getting back into the groove of our live show.

We’ve played in Leeds several times over the years and hold it as one of our favourite cities to play/party in, so it was really nice to see some familiar faces.
After the show everyone headed across town to the Met Uni to a Halloween themed after party, where everyone seemed to immediately don a skeleton glove, which the girls at the door were handing out to the poorly dressed-up partygoers, such as ourselves in an attempt help us fit in amongst some of the seriously pro costumes knocking about!

Our drummer Scott, and We Are The Ocean’s drummer Tom, decided they liked their gloves so much, that they would put a wager on who could keep there’s on the longest. 24 hours was the target, and about 13 hours later, we can confirm that’s Scott’s glove has remained on through sleep and through shower, and apparently his hand is beginning to look whiter than normal… Hazy rumours have come through that Tom has failed the task, and his glove has come off, but Scott is convinced he’s lying in order to win the contest. Results tomorrow.

A pool tournament also seems to have broken out after last night between myself, our photographer/friend/merch man Sam, our Mike, and Liam from WATO. 1-0 to Liam and Mike at the moment, but again, we will keep you posted.
So a tour of competition and wagers it seems! Plus I won £5 on a scratch card yesterday, feeling lucky.
