Who needs Simon, Alvin or Theodore when you've got Battles?! One of the year's great mysteries surrounded the lyrics of the first single to be taken from the New York math-rockers' debut album 'Mirrored', and despite its mammoth length (7:07 on the album, according to iTunes) is as about as infectious as the 'flu that's been going around the office this month.

The track succeeds on two levels - firstly Battles' experimental, math-rock principles, ensuring the band's burgeoning fanbase pre-being-played-in-Topshop were kept happy, and then using the simplest of terms, it's bloody brilliant. It sounds weird-but-nice, it's possible to sing along to the abject nonsense which appears to resonate from the speakers. It's a SEVEN MINUTE SINGLE!
