Although he passed on the lead role last year, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been confirmed for The Tomb.
The star will play a supporting role to Sylvester Stallone's Ray Breslin in Mikael Håfström's action thriller.
Coming Soon have the statement from Summit, who proudly announce that the two action legends will appear on screen again, after Arnie's 2010 cameo in The Expendables.
The Tomb follows Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he's ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design.
Schwarzenegger, in the role of Church, plays a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.
Håfström is known for his Swedish drama Evil, and went on to direct Shanghai, Derailed, 1408 and last year's The Rite. He'll be working from a story by Miles Chapman, rewritten by Jason Keller.
Schwarzenegger and Stallone will next be seen on screen together in The Expendables 2, out this August. Schwarzenegger just completed Jee-woon Kim's The Last Stand, and recently shared a photo of himself and Stallone waiting for a little shoulder surgery: "After all the stunts and abuse of The Expendables 2, it was time for a little tune-up. Now we are ready for another round of great times and action!"
