Ben Mendelsohn is to reunite with his Animal Kingdom co-star James Frecheville in the latest film from Coco Before Chanel director Anne Fontaine.
The helmer is making her English-language debut with an adaptation of the novella by Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Christopher Hampton (Atonement, A Dangerous Method) wrote the screenplay. The film has been going by the name of The Grandmothers, but Deadline's report adds the title is expected to change.
Naomi Watts and Robin Wright are already confirmed as stars of the drama, playing two friends who each fall in love with the other's teenage sons. Frecheville and The Loves Ones and Twilight star Xavier Samuels were cast as the sons last month.
Mendelsohn was seen in Killer Elite and Trespass this year, and has since landed key roles in Cogan's Trade and The Place Beyond the Pines.
Filming is underway in Australia.
