Gary Oldman is set to join the cast of Motor City as the villain.

The Hollywood Reporter reveal the actor, who recently received a well-deserved Oscar-nomination for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, is in final talks for the revenge thriller.

Dominic Cooper is starring in Albert Hughes' film, having made a huge impression in The Devil's Double. He plays a small-time crook, who after being framed and thrown in prison, exacts revenge years later. Amber Heard (Drive Angry, The Rum Diary) plays his love interest.

Oldman is set to play the criminal kingpin who has a hold over Heard. The actor previously worked with Hughes on The Book of Eli. It's the first solo outing for the director, who works with his brother Allen as The Hughes Brothers (From Hell, Menace II Society).

Produced by Joel Silver and scripted by Chad St. John, Motor City starts production in Berlin this April. National acting treasure Oldman will next be seen in this summer's The Dark Knight Rises, and reuniting with Tom Hardy for Wettest County.
