George Clooney is in negotiations to star in a very exciting Disney project.

1952 is an alien encounter film scripted by producer Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus) and Jeff Jensen, the Lost correspondent for Entertainment Weekly writer and author of graphic novel Green River Killer. Director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) is set to make 1952 the follow-up to his hugely successful live action debut Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Variety link Clooney to the film, which is said to be in the vein of Close Encounters of the Third Kind - a man who makes contact with aliens on Earth - but the plot is being kept under wraps. Disney had no comment on the casting rumour.

Clooney's next job is as director and star of The Monuments Men, with Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, Cate Blanchett and Jean Dujardin in the cast. His script, co-written with Grant Heslov, tells the true story of the American and British art experts who attempted to recover artwork stolen by the Nazis during World War II.
