Orlando Bloom and Djimon Hounsou are to star in an adaptation of Zulu, report Screen Daily.
Nothing to do with the Michael Caine film, it's based on Caryl Ferey's novel, set in post-Apartheid South Africa. Bloom and Hounsou will play two police officers who investigate the murder of the teenage daughter of a championship Springbok rugby player.
Jerome Salle will direct, after adapting the novel with co-writer Julien Rappeneau. Salle is known for Anthony Zimmer, which was remade into the disastrous The Tourist. Other works from the Frenchman include Largo Winch and The Burma Conspiracy. He will film Zulu in Cape Town this July.
Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean star Bloom was last seen in The Three Musketeers, and will next appear in Roger Donaldson's thriller Cities with Kirsten Dunst.
Gladiator and Blood Diamond star Hounsou recently appeared in The Tempest after working on television's Black Panther. He was set to star alongside Bradley Cooper in the ambitious Paradise Lost, but the project has been put on hold once more.
