Tom Cruise is likely to star in Doug Liman's long-gestating adaptation of All You Need Is Kill, after expressing a keen interest in the lead role.
Warner Bros. snapped up the rights to Hiroshi Sakurazaka's sci-fi novel early in 2010, with Joby Harold now reworking the script by Dante Harper (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) to accomodate Cruise's age, report Variety.
All You Need is Kill revolves around a soldier killed in action fighting aliens who inexplicably finds himself reborn each morning, forced to re-endure his final battle over and over again. Yes, it's very Source Code.
Bourne Identity director Liman is currently in pre-production for another sci-fi flick, Luna, after getting the green light this summer. It follows last year's disappointing CIA drama Fair Game.
Cruise, who reprises his Ethan Hunt for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocal this month, is also sticking with the genre - he will next shoot Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion (which may be retitled Horizons). He's currently shooting Jack Reacher adaptation One Shot.
