Vera Farmiga has has joined the cast of Dennis Wilson biopic The Drummer.
The Up in the Air star will play Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter Christine McVie, who had a tortured relationship with the Beach Boys drummer before his death in 1983.
Aaron Eckhart is already on board to play Wilson in Randall Miller's film, and will perform his own renditions from Wilson's 1977 solo album Pacific Ocean Blue. Variety, who report Farmiga's casting, add that the actress (also a classically-trained pianist) will perform duets with Eckhart.
Wilson's children are co-producing the film, which begins production in June. The Fleetwood Mac song 'Hold Me', co-written by McVie, was supposedly inspired by her relationship with Wilson, which lasted from 1979-1981 and ended because of his alcoholism.
Farmiga, who was Oscar-nominated for her supporting role opposite George Clooney in Up in the Air, was last seen in Duncan Jones' Source Code. After making her directorial debut with Higher Ground, she will next pop up in the Denzel Washington-starring thriller Safe House.
