Has there ever been any more apt a name for a bedroom project than this here Female Band? Perhaps when the future Dude With Laptop awakes with a musical epiphany and downloads Ableton Live, then and only then will this title be trumped.

As you may have guessed by the aforementioned pseudonym, Female Band is (in her own words) “one girl making noise.” A lone musician who - through the wonder and marvel of modernity that is home-studio software - has managed to emulate ‘Goo’-era Sonic Youth channeled through her self-proclaimed love of Jay Reatard.

And that’s pretty much all there is to know about Female Band, as few clues are given around her online presence. Her location is given as Brooklyn but, and we don’t mean to be creepy armchair (or should that be “computer chair?) detectives here, this doesn’t seem to be the case. Maybe the devil in the detail is a contact address ending in “co.uk” or perhaps it’s the fact that her first gig will take place at Dalston’s Shacklewell Arms on the 1st March? Who knows! We just have a hunch that she’s closer to home than the air of mystic likes to project.

Either way, after a first radio airing on Jon Kennedy’s XFM show recently, we’re pretty damn keen and excited to hear what’s coming next.
