London's own Melodica, Melody & Me face the DIY quick-fire question round in another highly-anticipated installment of lets-find-out-loads-of-useless-information-about-bands. Here we talk about Destiny's Child, Eastenders and 'Rolka'.
Hello. Who are you? Where are you from? Where are you based now?
Hi, I'm Anna. I'm from London, based in Streatham
What role do you play in the band?
Female singer and a sampler
Why did you pick that/those instruments?
I like it. It's easier to make melodies and sing them. The samplers are a new thing so I can bring new textures to the live shows with things we recorded at home.
How did the band happen?
We all went to the same school and I'm Rudi's little sister.
What are your 'Desert Island Disks'?
Seal - Kiss From A Rose; Destiny's Child - Dangerously In Love; Abba - Lay All Your Love On Me; Nick Mulvey - Lonely Moon.
What's the best thing that's happened to you as a group?
Getting stopped and searched en route to a gig which we were already late for / getting pepper-sprayed by an angry youth in Amiens, France.
Which do you prefer: melodica, melody or me?
Melody.
What's the last format you bought music in?
CD.
Who is your favourite Saturday?
3rd of the month.
Are you working on an album?
Yes, in our self-built home studio.
Recommend us some new music?
Nick Mulvey, Nick Pynn, Rosie Lalor.
Who did you used to have on your bedroom wall posters?
Usher, Missy Elliot, some boy from Eastenders.
What's the worst thing about a tour?
Too much travelling in a small space!
What's the first thing you do when you get home?
Eat/shower/hug my mum.
Who's the most exciting person you've ever met?
Jane Bom-Bane.
Where would you like to be in ten year's time?
Not really sure, probably in South London with a job that I like.
Where's the best place to go out in Brixton?
The Effra for a little drink or the football or the Soothsayers on some Tuesdays.
Who has the worst habits?
Rudi's farts, John's energy drinks.
If there are six of you, what happens about taxis?
Strictly public transport.
Which UK county is the best to play in?
London or East Sussex but up North is good too.
The Guardian said we shouldn't use the words 'rolka' or 'feggae'. Which do you prefer?
'Rolka'.
What do most Melodica, Melody & Me songs centre around?
General life experiences.
How would you like people to listen to you?
Walking somewhere with a good pair of headphones.
melodica, melody + me - come outside
'Come Outside' is released on 18th April 2011.
