We wouldn’t want circulating rumours to get in the way of a good song: Ever since ears were first laid on ‘Open’, word spread about how the silk-like vocals are that of Mike Milosh and that he’s working with one other identified, EU-bred but LA-based musician.

It doesn’t particularly matter for the time being. Right now, people are resting easy to the sound of Rhye’s debut track. Like its title might suggest, ‘Open’’s arrangements are sparse, leaving plenty of room for its listener’s clicking fingers or nonchalant hum. It is a beautiful love song and what it might lack in a clear concept it more than makes up for in being soulful and emotive. Signed to Innovative Leisure (home of Hanni El Khatib), expect identities to emerge and hearts to melt.
