First On: Skylines

Listen

The world’s first successful bandcamp supergroup.

Are we witnessing the world’s first successful bandcamp-based supergroup? Acts who cross paths on the online world seem to have joined hands, creating a fascinating project in Skylines. Made up of three obscure acts: Top Girls, Party Trash and Raw Moans - all acts with a penchant for capital letters and hipster-adored artwork - the end product is largely what you’d expect, considering that all of the aforementioned acts like their music to be sparse and evocative. But Skylines feels like a huge step forwards for all three acts. In many ways, it’s a project that’s far more accessible than any of the contributor’s solo work; its synths are huge, its melodies obvious and grabbing. A self-titled debut album has already gained more attention (and more importantly, facebook likes), than any of the individual projects put together.
