First On: Tech Coast

Rich, boundless electronic music with a self-professed “glo-fi” outer shell.

Few acts priding themselves with a chillwave tag will get anywhere from now on. The ambient music community have denounced it as lazy, derogatory and it’s an opinion that’s beginning to get shared amongst bloggers who are flocking more towards dreampop or electronic music. Some survivors will emerge but they will have to combine the previously trendsetting sound with something golden and unique.

This is what Tech Coast (Cooper Rivers) has achieved, marvelling in rich, boundless electronic music with a self-professed “glo-fi” outer shell. The ‘Tech’ stands for Rivers’ remarkable technical finesse whilst ‘Coast’ stands for the scene he’s tagging along to. All of this is showcased on his debut, ‘Stay’ EP. Expect him to be among the few survivors of a sinking scene.
