Here at DIY, it'd be a crime if we didn't look into independent developers and so we're committed to trawling through the good and the bad on Xbox Live's Indie Community so you don't have to.

Here's our pick of the latest bunch of indie software you can download now!

Oozi: Earth Adventure Ep. 1 - 80 Points

Absolutely gorgeous platformer, harking back to games likes Superfrog and Sonic. It looks and handles like a gamer's dream, but has little in the way of imagination. Jumping on enemy snake bastards' heads and collecting stars are all brilliant fun, but you keep waiting on that innovative spark that, sadly, never comes. A definite must, though, for all old school platforming fans.

Infinity Danger - 80 Points

So, it's not just a clever name. This shoot 'em up dogfighting beast has you firing cannons and lasers at giant airborne mechs in a stylish and positively beautiful manner. While it's a well used formula, it's a sparkling example of it tweaked to perfection here. Based on the games such as Warning Forever, this'll keep you blasting away for hours without even having to look at porn!

INDIE GAME TOP PICK - Can You Handle 2 At Once? - 80 Points

With such beautiful and muscle-laden feats of gaming prowess in the indie section this week, some may wonder why we've chosen this as our top pick. But, pick it up and you'll see why. It's a brain masher of a game that sets up two mini-games simultaneously, one on each side of the screen operated by the corresponding side of the controller. Concentrating on both increasingly difficult mini-games is a real mind-boggler, especially when they're two completely different games – one a simple shooter, and the other catching falling fruit into a massive mouth, for example. It's just an utter mental pump in the face! Well worth your dough.

WTF WAS THAT AWARD - CTG - 80 Points

Could this be the best game we've ever played? It's certainly up there, and we won't forget it for the end of the year polls! You're a cat wielding some sort of anti-gravity gun that you'll use to propel grannies, spiky faces and, later, bus-loads of folk into yellow whirlpools to complete levels. With 9 lives before you're kaput, it's a tense and altogether weird affair that you'll find tough to forget. Genuinely brilliant.

AVOID LIKE RABIES - Conquest Of The Planet Earth - 80 Points

Like playing a user-created Doom mod from the 90s, but much much worse. This is an FPS that starts promisingly enough as you enter a chamber full of mutant insects and manic bats with only a mega-gun for protection. Shoddy aiming and the fact the screen goes a horrible pastelly pink emblazoned with DAMAGE every single time you take a hit makes for an awful experience. Shame, because the ultra-dramatic title is great!
