Hammer Productions To Make Move Into Games Just imagine it... The Quatermass Experiment for Kinect, Dracula: Prince Of The Darkness II, Blood From The Mummy's Tomb Raider, Rasputin: The Mad Monkey Island!

Well, it may not quiiiite be like that, but president of Hammer productions Simon Oakes spoke to DIY about their recent movie The Woman In Black, and was keen to mention Hammer's move into the gaming world.

"We have a little partnership, doing some online stuff at the moment, which is quite fun," said Oakes, "We definitely want to be more in social media, with games if we can. With games, as you know, it's incredibly expensive in developing, and it's the question of whether it's a generic Hammer game or a specific film title. It's not something that we would do ourselves, we'd do it in partnership with someone else - our expertise is making making films and television. In our partnership with Random House, we're a brand working with writers in the genre. I'm very keen to do something in the games world, and we're interested in getting that fact out there. It requires a just spark of imagination from the big games developers, saying 'we think that Hammer is sufficiently strong as a brand in this country', as it's beginning to get more traction in America with the release of this film."

Hammer Film Productions came into prominence in the 60s and 70s with its branded 'gothic' style horrors until the 1980s, when they ceased production. In the 2000s, Hammer re-emerged with a MySpace exclusive serial Beyond The Rave. Since then, Hammer have gone on to produce 2009's The Resident and the recent film adaptation of The Woman in Black starring Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe.

As lifelong Hammer fans, we'd love to see the dark and macabre world of their films transferred to games. Come on, games developers, give us that spark of imagination!
