Following their fantastic performance at 1234 Festival, Guy Purssell caught up with Milo and Leo from Chrome Hoof for a quick-fire interview.Where do you draw your influences from?
Prefer crayons, or if you insist, a nice hard 6H pencil. Dot to dot.
Does Chrome Hoof have any meaning or origin behind the name?
Yes, but I’m in my nice place at the moment.
Did you have a second choice for band name that was trumped by Chrome Hoof?
No, but let’s just say 'Massive Redundant Steaming Mound' anyway.
What do you think you do best as a band?
Ahhh - exposed! Nothing.
Illegal downloading - love or hate?
Love to hate.
Do you have any upcoming releases, or are you working on any new material?
Almost nailed a new album. Naturally, it’s going to be fantastic.
Does the large amount of band members in Chrome Hoof make touring difficult?
Yes and no, we all bring qualities to the table that help the journey.
How do you feel you connect with your fans?
Which one?
What is behind the costumes you wear onstage?
A wheezing cyclops, some washed-up failures, and a shit.
What was the last record you listened to?
The first Visitors album and 'Bite This' by Roxanne Shante.
What festivals are you playing? What bands are you looking forward to seeing there?
Was looking forward to Arkestra and Femi Kuti at Standon calling but missed them both. Playing Big Chill, would like to hear Greg Wilson's DJ set.
Out of everyone who has ever lived, who would you most like to collaborate with?
Jimmy Nail.
What is your opinion on dubstep?
One of us went to 'Forward' regularly for a year or so, because of Stuart 'The Hammer' Hammersley's connection, and thoroughly enjoyed it - especially on the Plastic People System - and especially Benny Ill and Hatcha. It was an exciting little time.
Is there anything that you feel particularly strongly about that you'd like to mention now?
Cincinnati Bow-Tie's
You incorporate many different genres in your music, what would you never ever want to have a go at playing?
Djembe and Didge jams.
