Glastonbury 2011: Yuck
"I pretend I'm upset and hide in the toilet"
Posted 25th June 2011, 11:00am in Interviews

Yuck are getting ready for their first trip to Glastonbury as a band so Max Bloom took a few minutes to talk to us about Primavera.
Hello, who are you and what role do you play in the band?
Hi, my name is Max Bloom and I play guitar
How many times have you performed at Glastonbury?
ZERO TIMES
What's your Festival postcard moment?
I enjoyed playing Primavera this year because the line up was so good. I saw Pulp play and it was incredible. Our gig was also maybe the biggest gig we've ever played, so it was an all round ten on ten.
Who will you be looking out for in the backstage area?
I'll be looking out for Jesus, I hear he's doing a surprise gig on the Park Stage at Glastonbury this year.
How do you plan your festival set?
Not sure really, just play a really fun set that we think people will enjoy!
What makes Glastonbury special?
The government.
What's your worst festival memory?
Hmmm... at Primavera I lost everyone at 3am and my phone ran out of battery, so I just had to go back to the hotel. Not that bad really.
Have you ever worn fancy dress at a festival? If so, what did you dress up as?
I hate fancy dress. Honestly, I do. Not only at festivals, but in general. There's so much risk involved with fancy dress. If you take it too seriously then you look silly, but if you don't dress up at all you look like you don't know how to have fun. The conversation at a fancy dress party is always, “So, what are you meant to be?” and it's like an instant conversation starter for people with nothing to say to each other, but why would you need that? And if you're at a party where you have nothing to say to your closest friends, you have to ask yourself why you're even there in the first place!
How do you deal with Glastonbury weather?
I pretend I'm upset and hide in the toilet
Which festival, in your opinion, is sporting the best line up this year?
Probably Primavera... I don't work for Primavera. I just think its a good festival.
Finally, where else can we see you play this summer?
Primavera. Just joking... Pitchfork festival, Pukklepop, Way Out West, Reading/Leeds, and many more!
Yuck play at 1.05pm on the John Peel stage today (Saturday 25th June)
