Iceland Airwaves: FM Belfast
This week sees Iceland Airwaves 10th anniversary bash...
This week sees the return of Iceland Airwaves for its 10th anniversary bash in Reykjavik. To celebrate, we've grabbed some of the bands playing to do a quick Q&A. First up, Iceland's FM Belfast.
Hello FM Belfast! How are you?
We are great, we just played a really fun show in Tromsö in Norway and we are still sweaty.
You're just about to play at Iceland Airwaves - have you played it before?
Yes we played in 2006 and 2007.
Is there anything that you think sets it apart from other festivals you've played?
Firstly it's our home town and it's really nice to see the whole city fill up with people from all over the world that have one thing in common and that's their interest in music.
Will it be your last festival of the year?
Yes but far from being the last gig of the year.
Are there any bands you're particularly looking forward to seeing?
Robots in Disguise, Reykjavík, Skakkamanage, Retro Stefson and The Ghost.
Does your set clash with anyone you'd rather it didn't?
We prefer not to look, it might be painful
Will you be debuting any new material whilst you're there?
We will be playing songs from our album 'How To Make Friends' and also some brand new stuff no one has heard before!
And finally, when will you next be playing in the UK?
There are a lot festivals we'd like to play, for instance End of the Road, Bestival and The Mighty Boosh festival and we'd also love to play in our "home town" Belfast... We're waiting by the phone.
