Land Of Talk

I'm looking forward to our reunion with Menomena. We toured with them almost a year ago throughout the States and they were absolutely cool and nice.

Land Of Talk Canadian indie-rockers Land Of Talk are due to return to the UK later this month, touring until early March alongside Yeasayer and Menomena on various dates. Following the gigs, they will release new single 'Speak To Me Bones', taken from debut album 'Applause Cheer Boo Hiss', on 3rd March.

You are due to return to the UK this month for a short tour - what do you expect this time around?
From our side I am expecting some seriously sweaty shows. I got some of my gear fixed and got new cables so I won't be worried about strange crackles and pops every time I shift my weight. And I'm looking forward to our reunion with Menomena. We toured with them almost a year ago throughout the States and they were absolutely cool and nice.

You have a new single coming out in March, called 'Speak To Me Bones'...
It's in the key of E flat minor and we usually play it at 118 bpm. The lyrics are about bags of blood, fawns, hammers and nails. Once, my guitar strap broke during the intro and so i had to rest the body of the guitar on my elevated knee and balance on the other leg. Oh, and then 2 strings broke before even getting to the first chorus. it's a pretty hefty song.

You have said that you feel like you're an American band rather than a Canadian band - why is that?
We toured the States on and off for 8 months last year. We toured Canada way less. We are working with a brilliant Canadian booker now so I have a feeling we'll be seeing much more of our homeland.

"Fronted by the daughter of North America's first female alligator wrestler. Backed by Montreal's skinniest drummer and fattest bass player." Can you back this up!?
None of this is true. Well, my Mom did do a short stint at a zoo and tended to the alligators. There is an old news article to 'back this up' on our MySpace page.

You're returning to play SXSW next month - are you looking forward to it?
For two secret reasons, yes I am very looking forward to SXSW. And, all secrets aside, SXSW is the only opportunity, funnily enough, to hang out with all my Montreal friends who keep similar tour schedules to Land of Talk.
