Who are they?
Sheffield-based quartet, two boys and two girls, who cite such influences as The Breeders and Wire. Actually, a lot of bands cite those, so it's hardly a suitable introduction: more useful is to say that their records (or record) are released through the ever-reliable Angular Recordings.
Why are they so great?
Because never have we listened to a debut EP and been so equally impressed by every track: whether it's the wonderful art-pop urgency of 'Sticker' or the devil-may-care call-and-response chorus of 'Letters', it's what we'd call 'mindblowing' were it not for the fact they seem so polite about it.
What do they sound like?
It's spiky, punk-ish art-rock (as may be expected), but it's done so well, and so unashamedly honestly, that it's not as hard-faced, pretentious or haughty as the impressions those words conjure up. It's equal parts noisy rock and indie-pop, it's hyperactive joy one minute, then sarcastic anti-love the next. A sort of bi-polar pop for ADD sufferers.
What should I be checking out?
Debut EP 'Four Songs By Navvy' is released on 31st March, and in April the band will be making what we assume to be their TV debut on Channel M. They're also due to support Clinic on 12th April in Manchester, and appear on Marc Riley's Brain Surgery on 9th May.
