Reading 2011: Fucked Up, NME/Radio 1 Stage
Live ReviewsThe Lock Up tent may be a stones throw away, but only one band at Reading knows how to rock.
28th August 2011, Reading Festival / By Stephen Ackroyd

Some Canadian noise merchants before lunch might seem like an odd choice for a Sunday, but Reading seems ready to rock. 'David Comes To Life' might have the sound desk thrown, with it's vocal switch-a-roo, but the masses know what they're here for - those unprepared running for cover. We don't need them anyway.
Within a song, we're in to the crowd, clothing optional. Not much later confused looking security are following our leader slap bang into the middle of the action - a grateful handshake little recompense for the look of abject terror on their faces at the prospect of being dragged away from their comfort zone.
It's only a broken microphone that brings us back to the confines of the stage. The Lock Up tent may be a stones throw away, but - as the biggest circle pit of the weekend so far will testify - only one band at Reading knows how to rock. In a hat, obviously.
