This eccentric group sure know how to put on a show.

The Do Olivia Merilahti and Dan Levy are The Dø. The fabulous, fabulous Dø. An incredibly rare case of utter inability to categorize a group leaves me lost but content.

Wednesday night sees the Finnish / French band take over the ever-popular Hoxton Bar & Kitchen for an hour and a half of very impressive shit. Dø-loving Frenchies are out in force, making up a large percentage of the jam-packed room. Performing tracks from both their first album and recently-released-in-the-UK second album (read DIY’s review here), we're in for a treat.

The duo are joined by a very skilled band that switches between both live and electric drums, guitars, bass, horns and an array of pots and pans that clutters the back of the stage. It must be noted that The Dø are very theatrical (read: they dance around, have overly-expressive faces and shriek a lot).

Sounding and performing at times like Bjork, others The Kills and others simple folk singer-songwriters, it is safe to say that the performance is wonderfully diverse. Olivia is magnificent and oh so sexy, switching between roles, almost characters, with every song. Particularly awesome is the M.I.A style 'Slippery Slope', with great hip-hop beats and their own added wonderful weirdness.

This eccentric group sure know how to put on a show, a show that I suggest you check out very soon. Rating: 8/10
