Name: Sun Drums
Based: Liverpool, UK
Listen at: Everybody’s Stalking Bandcamp
Similar to: Hearing all the tracks on Animal Collective’s ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ played at the same time.

Sun Drums’ debut EP, consisting of five songs, lasts longer than your average Mika Miko album. Granted, we’re not talking about short-lived punk songs here; rather, we’re getting our heads enmeshed in an excitable flurry of evolving sounds, over and over again. It’s sort of like the experience of apple bobbing, only without the sensation of near-death that comes with it. It’s intense, but by the time you finish the self-titled first work and reach out for the open air, you gain a sense of calm and tranquility.

You probably couldn’t list the Liverpool-based band’s influences in under 1000 words. Every split-second of synthetic progression, each blast of electronic percussion; it encompasses a ton of ideas, all sacrosanct and part of the mysterious final product. Listen below and prepare yourself for an intense journey.

The debut EP is available now on limited 12” through Everybody’s Stalking Recordings.
