ActionAid Launch World’s First Emergency Music Network

The network will raise money when natural disasters strike.

In response to the recent chaos caused by natural disasters, ActionAid are launching the world’s first emergency music network. The idea is that when such a thing occurs in future, there will be a ready-made network of bands and promoters across the UK to help raise funds.

Radio 1 DJ - and ActionAid ambassador - Huw Stephens says: "When an emergency strikes – whether it’s an earthquake, flood or tsunami – we all want to do what we can to help. ActionAid Live brings together music fans, bands and promoters in a united effort to save lives both in those vital first few days following a disaster and in the long term.

"I’ve seen for myself the amazing work ActionAid does, and they’re one of the most inspiring charities out there – by raising money for them in an emergency, the money you raise will make the biggest difference possible."

Other supporters include Everything Everything, The Wombats, Cancer Bats, and Festival Republic managing director Melvin Benn. Bands, musicians and promoters can sign up to ActionAid Live from today, at actionaid.org.uk/live.
