"At least we're punctual, right?"Wim Butler knew how to win over the crowd during Arcade Fire's headline set at Reading, referencing the hour long wait for Guns N' Roses the previous night.
Performing a rousing set, Butler proclaimed "I can't tell you how much it means to be here".
The frontman also thanked festival organisers for donating to Partners In Health to help Haiti, proclaiming after performing the song of the same name: "I heard they may double it if you're a good enough crowd."
While showing some self depreciating humour ("Look, we've never had a hit song, so I don't know what the fuck we're doing here, but until someone comes with a hook we're going to stay.") the band won over the crowd with tracks such as 'No Cars Go', 'Sprawl II' and 'Rebellion (Lies)' before returning for an encore of 'Month Of May' and 'Wake Up'.
Their complete set ran:
'Ready To Start'
'Keep The Car Running'
'Neighborhood #2 (Laika)'
'No Cars Go'
'Haiti'
'Modern Man'
'Rococo'
'The Suburbs'
'Intervention'
'Crown Of Love'
'Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)'
'Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)'
'We Used To Wait'
'Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)'
'Rebellion (Lies)'
Encore:
'Month Of May
'Wake Up'
